Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry I

   The characters of the book "Roll of Thunder" are Little Man, Stacey, Christopher-John, and Cassie. The story was told in first person by Cassie which is the girl in the middle of the picture. It took place during the time when the whites get whatever they wont and the African-Americans get treated like crap which is wrong in so many ways.

  The beginning of the book starts out with the kids going to there first day of school. The school called The Great Faith Elementary and Secondary School, one of the largest black schools in the county. Also it was an hour walk to get there. It was a consisting of four weather-beaten wooden houses on stilts of brick, 320 students, seven teachers, a principal, a caretaker, and the caretaker's cow.

  Everyday they walk to the school they always fear the bus from Jefferson Davis County School, which is a long white wooden building looming in the distance. Behind the building was a sports field around a scattered rows of tired gray benches. So every time they try to walk to school the Jefferson Davis County School buses try to run them off the road or into a ditch.

   One day when they were walking to school they wanted to leave early so they don't have to see the bus. Unlucky for them the bus was less then fifty feet behind them, it veered dangerously close to the right edge of the road where they were running, forcing them to jump to the bank; but all of them fell short and landed in the slime of the gully. Little man grabbed a handful of mud and ran to the road and ran after the retreating bus.

  This is as far as I have read this week but next week I will read more and tell y'all what happens next.

Scientists Discover New Cave Spider

 
Well first of all what do you think of this picture to the right? Looks scary right? Well as we all know this is called a Spider. Ever sense I first learned to talk, and walk I nerved liked spiders. Don't know why but they just creep me out when I see one on the ground or even hanging from the ceiling in front of my face.

 Once when I was little there was a spider on my living room floor at home. Of course I wasn't going to go near it but I wanted to see what it would do. What happened was weird, and unsuspecting. It wasn't moving at all not even twitching. At first it looked like it was dead, so I moved closer. Next thing I know it started ruining towards me really fast. So I ran to my parents so they can kill it and scene then never liked them.

 Moving on to this cool looking spider. Whats unique about this spider is that it's legs each ends in a curved, like claws.Which has never been seen before on any kind of spider. It also resembles the Brown recluse. Scientists uncovered this spider form the caves of southwestern Oregon and at redwood forest. The closest kind of spiders that are in common with it is the Oonipidae spiders. By the way, the scientists named it Trogloraptor. Sounds like a dinosaur kind of animal.

 The Trogloraptor is about 8  centimeters long. Which really is not that big but is common for a spider. The food they eat are only fly by what the scientists think. We think the Trogloraptor hangs from ceilings of caves with there legs open, then snaps its claws to catch flies passing by for food. So that's pretty much what the scientists have found out so far. Don't you want to see this in your house at night?

What I've learned in Geometry

   When school first started I was so excited to know what classes I would. I was also excited to meet some new teachers. I was wishing that I will get some nice teachers and not the strict to the bone teachers. Like last year I had some strict teachers, and they always yelling at us for something so little or nothing at all. So on, my figures were crossed when the teachers were handing out papers that tells us what classes we will have. Of course I have civics, public speaking, but then it said geometry.

  Math was never my favorite subject since I first started learning it. I get confused with word problems and can easily forget formulas. Last year in 9th grade I took algebra 1. It was hard at first because I wasn't really ready for it. For the first few weeks it was difficult to understand what I was doing but I my teacher was very supportive to me. She saw that I was having trouble and offered me some help one day during lunch. Thanks to her the rest of the year was easy to me, and I passed the class with flying colors.

Now that I have geometry I'm very worried on how I will do in this class. Again it is being difficult for me to learn the new formulas and using a compass. "Construction" in Geometry means to draw shapes, angles or lines accurately. These constructions use only compass, straightedge (i.e. ruler) and a pencil. This is the "pure" form of geometric construction - no numbers involved!" This pretty much tells about what it is.

   Even tho I'am still in the class now, I think its getting easier for me to solve problems. My parents told me that  it will be hard at first but will come to you which was true.

New Orleans Uninvited Guest

  New Orleans, full of great things to do and  it never gets boring. Its mainly known for its music like Jazz, zydeco, blues, Cajun and funk. Parties everyday and every night around every corner. The point is, New Orleans is one of the funniest place to be in the united states.

  On August 29, 2005 the most unsuspected thing that would ever happen, happened. Winds downtown were in the Category 3 rang with frequent intense guts and tidal surge. Hurricane Katrina passed South-east of New Orleans causing massive damage. The storm surge caused more than fifty broken drainage canal levees, and was the worst engineering disaster in the history of the United States still. I remember when I was  eight years old looking at the TV and seeing a city full of water. It was unbelievable to my eyes because it was something I've never seen before but only dreamed while I sleep.

  About 80% of New Orleans was flooded, with some places under 15 feet of water! 80 and 90 percent of the people of New Orleans was safely taken out in time before Katrina struck. It also was the most long-lasting effects ever in history. Nothing has ever been the same for New Orleans sense then.

  Until now in the 2012 a new visitor is on her way. She's aiming right towards New Orleans with winds up to 200 MPH from its center. A lot of people are very, very worried about what will happen when she comes, and hopes it won't be an reenactment from 2005. I wouldn't be surprised if the hurricane would not do anything to New Orleans. From what I heard on the news the storm left 24 dead in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, but left little damage in the Florida Keys as it blew past.So New Orleans might not even be in trouble at all, but who knows until it happens shortly.

What happens in class

  What happen in class today was fun and embarrassing for me. At the end of the day in my last class which is public speaking, we had to do a assignment that was due that day. The assignment was that we had to put five items into a bag that represents us and then write what we are going to say onto paper. So what I did to explain myself to my classmates was first my favorite food which is slim jims, than my favorite drink which is coke. My last three items is my iPod because of music, a small soccer ball for favorite sport, and lastly a little yellow lab to show that I love dogs and to play with them.

  So when the time was come to enter the class I was very nervous to be picked first. Lucky me my friend Donnie wanted to volunteer to go first. Of course he was being funny and making jokes while he was showing everybody his items, but that's normal Donnie for ya. While everybody was laughing at what he was saying I was going to get my bag out of my book bag. I never thought about it at first, but it was a tight fill to put it in there and that turned out to tear the bag on its side showing my box of slim jims. Some how it made me sad because I didn't want anything bad to happen when it was my turn but I kinda jinks myself. 

  Later on in the class I was trying to figure out what I was going to say. Even tho I wrote what to say on my paper I wasn't so positive about it. The thing is I was never so great at talking in front of people or a audience. Reason I say this is because when I first start talking my face turns blood red. I never even knew this until my friends told me a while back. So right when it was my turn to talk in front of my classmates I could feel my face getting hot and I could hear people saying he's blushing and look how red his face is getting. Next thing I know I lose my train of thought and just started talking and ignored the paper I that would of been just fine. So instead I just say things like "I use my iPod to listen to music." which was stupid of me because I really wanted to get a good grade on it but I don't think that happen.

  After everybody has gone and done there assignment our teacher told us some very important info. What she said was "So everybody has not done what was asked and will do it again later on the the school year. This should of took more then an a class period but was suppose to at least take two days, and nobody talked about there five items enough." So lucky me I get another chance to do it and will do it better next time. I guess it wasn't so bad of a day than. 

The Threats of Mother Earth

  What would you do if you hear the earth it self talk out loud? Would you run, hide, scream? The earth is mad at everybody on her for treating her badly. We leave trash all over the place making it dirty and smell bad. The toxic fumes kill the ecosystem and all the trees.

  

  Why do we let this happen to mother earth? Next thing you know the earth with want to kick us off her. She would want us to move to another planet even tho there is nowhere else to live. Earthquakes and volcanoes will start to happen all around us. We would all start to run and wouldn't know what to do about whats happening. Either we stop what she doesn't like or we all die from what she does to us.

  She said the best place to move would be the moon because we been there before. Even tho there was no way to move all the people on earth to the moon, so we will have to move to another planet like mars or Venus. What would happen if she would kick us off her planet?

  What we should do is change and do what she says unless we want to all die. Stop throwing trash all over the place, and making the world smell like crap. Start recycling and reusing things so you can save things without putting it all over beaches and important places. We need to reduce the toxic fumes that factories let out, and find another way to do it without hurting our ozone.

 If we do this and apologize to her for what we did wrong. Then show that we can change and prove it so we can stay and live our life to the fullest. We can do this together and not get killed by earthquakes and volcanoes.

Games that are most popular

 

   The most popular games are the ones that everybody loves to play and stays on that game only. Of course everybody has their own favorite games like (RPG) Role Playing Games, shooting games, adventure, and strategy games are most of the ones teens like to play.

   An RPG game that have now been out for a while is the game called Skyrim and is one of the most popular game out today. The reason that this game is so popular is all the things you can do in it. I personally never play the game before but from seeing and hearing what people say about it plus seeing it on tv surely proves how fun it is to play.

   Shooting games have a lot of choices that some people would like and others wouldn't. For instance me and my friends like to play first-person shooting games because we like to get into the action. Others might like the third-person shooting games so they can see what around them. A game that is one of the most popular shooting games are the Call of Duty games. The newest game for Call of Duty is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. This is a great game for teens who like a fast pasting game and want a modern combat experience in a game.

   One adventure game that I have been looking for is the PC game called Grim Fandango. I never really played this game but I found it on the internet saying its one of the best adventure games of all time. One thing I found about the game was "Join Manny, the undead travel agent, and uncover a conspiracy to keep new additions to the underworld from buying a safe passage through purgatory." This seems like a fun game to play if you're one of those people who likes to play computer games. I would recommend playing the demo first tho.
